USU Credit Union Commits $2 Million to Football Stadium Renovation

LOGAN, UT: December 22, 2015 – Utah State University and USU Credit Union, which operates as a division of Goldenwest, are proud to announce the Credit Union has committed $2 million to the football stadium renovation.

“We are passionate about supporting Utah State,” said USU Credit Union Division President, David Butterfield. “The stadium renovation project will help elevate Aggie athletics to even greater heights.”

Kerry Wahlen, President and CEO of Goldenwest Credit Union indicated the credit union board is deeply committed to its investments in Cache Valley and Utah State. “When we asked the board of directors to support the stadium project, the response was overwhelmingly in the affirmative. It is the right thing to do.”

“This gift is the fifth seven figure gift we have received towards the stadium renovation,” said John Hartwell, Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Director. “In consideration of this gift, the south and west concourses will carry the USU Credit Union name.”

Robert Behunin, Vice President for Advancement explained how the idea for the gift came about, “When we first started talking about a naming opportunity for the south concourse we weren’t sure who to go to. We floated the idea with Kerry and David just to have them help us identify prospects, and their response was, ‘Well, that might be a great project for us to be involved in.’ And then David and Kerry made it happen.”

“We value our partnership with USU and Goldenwest Credit Unions,” said USU President Stan Albrecht, “and we are confident we can leverage this gift to do even more.”

The stadium gift comes in addition to USU Credit Union’s previous commitment of just over $3 million to construct a new University Welcome Center which is currently underway.
