Happy New Year! As we set our sights on 2014, I wish to express my gratitude to our volunteers, employees and members for their support throughout 2013. It was a historic year for our 78 year-old credit union.

It’s thrilling to announce we will return $760,000 to Goldenwest members in December 2013 through our share-savings bonus dividend program. Over the course of 10 years, Goldenwest members have collectively earned $5.875 million with the bonus dividend.

Goldenwest Credit Union recently reached a historic milestone with assets exceeding $1 billion for the first time. This achievement is attributed to 77 years of member loyalty, sound business practices, and innovative growth strategies. The recent merger with USU Credit Union propelled Goldenwest to the $1 billion mark a year or so ahead of our original projections.

At the end of 2012, Goldenwest conducted an online member satisfaction survey. We were received many responses requesting Goldenwest open branch offices in Brigham City and Cache Valley. The appeal from our members to open more branches in northern Utah was one of the determining factors for merging with USU Credit Union.

Goldenwest is embarking on the largest expansion project in our 77 year history. Our federal regulator, NCUA, officially recognized Goldenwest and USU Credit Unions as a single organization beginning October 1st. Together, we will serve 100,000 members and operate 26 branches from Logan to St George.

In 1984, Goldenwest ventured outside of Weber County and opened the first branch located in Davis County. Today, we have six offices in Davis County with branches in Clinton, Clearfield, Layton, Kaysville, Centerville and I’m excited to say ‘now in Bountiful’. With the Bountiful branch opening on August 2nd, we have 21 branch offices across Utah. I invite you to visit this beautiful, full-service office located at 2085 Orchard Drive.

After months of discussion and due diligence, Goldenwest Credit Union and USU Charter Credit Union have announced their intent to merge. This is an exciting time for both organizations as we prepare to join forces in an effort to better serve our collective 106,000 members.
